The man who took a lead role in overseeing the most recent St. Francis Memorial Hospital construction project this week was given the job of overseeing the day-to-day operations of Franciscan Care Services.
Effective Friday, Jerry Wordekemper’s new title will be Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Franciscan Care Services, Inc.
Wordekemper, presently the Administrator of St. Joseph’s Retirement Community, will report directly to Ron Briggs, President/CEO of Franciscan Care Services (FCS, Inc.).
“Jerry has proven himself to be a very capable administrator in his years at St. Joseph’s,” Briggs said. “He has an excellent financial background and understands what it takes to lead an organization. I think he’ll be very successful and the staff is excited that Jerry is taking on a bigger leadership role here.”
Briggs noted that Wordekemper worked well with the staff and contractors when he led the recent patient tower building project, adding that his being promoted to COO has been part of the Hospital Board’s succession planning strategy for several years.
Wordekemper said he’s excited to meet the challenges of his new leadership position.
“I believe very strongly in our mission and this organization,” he said. “I’m looking forward to this new role.”
As COO, Wordekemper will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including St. Francis Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Retirement Community, Dinklage Medical Clinic and Wimmer Rehabilitation.
He will continue to be responsible for St. Joseph’s Retirement Community until a new administrator is named.
