Cable ONE channel changes will start Tuesday in West Point
Thursday, 16 January 2014 15:05
Cable ONE customers in West Point and other area communities can expect big changes to their television channels, starting as early as Tuesday.
That’s because Cable ONE is beginning its transition to an all-digital platform in the Norfolk area.
The transition to all-digital will be completed in four phases: introduction of a reorganized channel lineup, deployment of Cable ONE’s new all-digital device, analog channel turnoff, and addition of new channels.
Start to finish, this process will take approximately four months, Cable ONE General Manager Mike Drahota told the West Point News.
He said Cable ONE customers have received at least two letters informing them of the changes, and more notices are coming. Information is also available on the company’s website:
The first phase in the process is the reorganized channel lineup. Existing channel lineup will change beginning in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 21, with all changes complete by Friday morning, Jan. 24. A new channel guide can be found in the Cable ONE ad on page 6A of this week’s West Point News. Those guides were also mailed to customers.
The new lineup will group similar type programming together making it easier to find programming categories such as news, sports, and children’s programming.
In addition, it will be easier to find high definition channels. In the new lineup, all HD channels will be located to channel 1000 or higher. For example, ESPN HD will be channel 1133.
Customers that have individual program recordings set up on DVRs will want to ensure the correct channels/shows are set up for recording in conjunction with the lineup change.
