Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Elmira Merrill - August 25, 2010
Elmira K. “Mira” (Rasmus) Merrill, age 78 of Wahoo, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D. and West Point, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo. A funeral Mass was Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Point. Interment was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, West Point.Survivors include a son, Gary and Judy Rasmus, Mead; one grandson; stepchildren, Kenny and Sandy Merrill, MI, Jerry and Mary Merrill, Cindy and Steve Elliot, Steven and Ginny Merrill, all of South Dakota; sisters, Marlene and Charles Parish, NV, Oneva and Wendell Lummel; sisters-in-law, Connie Hoetfelker and Helen Rasmus, both of Nebraska; brother-in law, Dennis Westerman.
Svoboda Funeral Home, Wahoo was in charge of arrangements.
