Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Paul Johnson - September 01, 2010
Paul O. Johnson, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at his home in Fremont. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father Ron Battiato will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Fremont with military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Fremont; two sons, Michael and Kathleen Johnson and Brad and Jennifer Johnson, all of Omaha; six grandchildren; four sisters, Matilda Kronberg of Fremont, Jean and Duane Simpson of North Manchester, Ind., Clara Montano of Grand Island, and Rose and Keith Pokorny of Weston.
