Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Alfon Schwarz - September 08, 2010

Alfon J. Schwarz, 87, of Lexington, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Mass of Christian burial was Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Rev. Jorge Canela officiated. Burial with military honors was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Schwarz of Lexington; two sons, Alfred and Deborah Schwarz of Elwood, James and Pam Schwarz of Lexington; two daughters, Vickie and Ed Clements of Lexington and Eunice and Tim Cantrell of Beemer; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Terry) Hassman of Fremont and a sister-in-law, Lucy (Darrel) Buesing of Gothenburg.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Rescue Unit, the Heartland Military Museum or St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
