Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Funeral services for Andrew Ludwig, 83, of Wisner, were Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Zion St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner. Interment with military honors was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.Andrew died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Ludwig of Wisner; son, Dan Ludwig of Wisner; daughter, Denise and Joe Oswald of Beemer; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey and Don Maack of West Point; sister-in-law, Mary and Orven Lueshen of Wisner; brothers-in-law, Arthur and Ardyce Trennepohl of Rapid City, S.D., and Douglas and Jean Trennepohl of Pristina, Kosovo.
Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
