West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Evelyn Blaha - October 20, 2010
Evelyn Blaha, 83, of Dodge, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Rev. Patrick McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the St. Wenceslaus Catholic School or St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Survivors include son, Leo F. and Sandra Blaha of Dodge; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Stokely Funeral Home of Dodge was in charge of arrangements.
