Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Paul Beckenhauer, Jr. - November 10, 2010
Funeral services for Paul Beckenhauer Jr., age 65, of Atkinson, were Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in West Point. Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors.Paul died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Survivors include his parents, Paul Sr. and Ruth Beckenhauer of West Point; children, Margaret and Kent Swanson of Stanton, Iowa, Renata Beckenhauer of Lincoln, Paul and Kim Beckenhauer of Ceresco; six grandchildren; brothers, Mark W. and Mary Beckenhauer of Omaha, Michael F. Beckenhauer of Omaha; sisters, Marilyn J. Denton of Fremont, Christine and Roger Nielson of Jefferson, Iowa and special friend, Becky Schmitz of Norfolk.
The family suggests memorials may be directed in Paul’s name to the American Heart Association, Atkinson Public Library and St. Paul Lutheran School.
