Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Bruce Marr - December 08, 2010

Bruce Marr, 81, of Walthill, formerly of Bancroft, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at the West Point Living Center. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill. Father Mike Eckley officiated. Burial with military honors was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Walthill; sons, Dan of Earl, N.C, Jim and Twyla of Norfolk, Tom and Patti of Whiting, Iowa, Terry and Brenda of Wichita, Kan., Rick of Jacksonville, Fla., Marty of Belleview, Fla., Ron of Ocala, Fla., and Garrett and Richelle of Winnebago; daughters, Diane and Dana Leffler of West Point, Michelle and Dan Kelley of Simpsonville, S.C., Cathy Kinder of Coudersport, Pa., Ariane and Derrick Grant of Macy, and Mandy Marr of Sundance Wyo. He had 39 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by 3 step-children and several step-grandchildren; brother, Hugh and Bernadean of Dodge, and sister, Ruth and Frank McCabe of Carroll, Iowa.
Munderloh Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
