Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Bernard Franzluebbers - December 29, 2010

Bernard Franzluebbers, 89, of Dodge, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.
Funeral Mass was Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean with Rev. Patrick McLaughlin officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Cemetery, or St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, of Dodge; daughters Marlene and Robert Rolf of Dodge, Rita and Tim Hunke of West Point and Janice and Ron Parolek of Clarkson; sons David and LuAnn, Richard Marlyce, Robert, and Don and Lori all of Dodge; sisters, Josephine Kampschneider of Dodge, Caroline Kampschneider of West Point, Catherine Franzluebbers of Hayden, Idaho, Ann Steffensmeier of Howells, Sr. Georgiana Franzluebbers, OSF, and Sr. Frances Franzluebbers, OSF, both of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rose Gentrup of West Point; 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Stokley Funeral Home, Dodge, was in charge of arrangements.
