Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Albert Hokamp, 93, Arlington, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Arbor Manor, Fremont. Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. Rev. Rick Kanoy will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post #8332 and American Legion Post 371 of Arlington. Burial wil be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Arlington.Memorials may be made to the Albert and Darlene Hokamp Scholarship Endowment Fund at Concordia College at Seward and to the building fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sons, Steven and Diane Hokamp of Fremont and Randy and Judy Hokamp of Arlington; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Meta Breithaupt of Fremont and Norma and Elmer Katt of Herman; brother-in-law, Alvin and Lorraine Gnuse of Carpenteria, Calif.
Arrangements were by Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home, Arlington.
