Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Lois Porter - January 19, 2011
Lois A. Porter, 85, of Scribner died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Scribner Good Samaritan Center. The funeral was Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre officiated. Burial was in the St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church.Survivors include daughters, Kay Wagner of Sioux City, Iowa, Lynn Porter of Las Vegas, Nev., Faye and Kevin Nelson of Omaha, Ann and Keith Charling of Oakland; sons, Leigh and Vickie Porter of Lincoln and Thomas and Lee Porter of Omaha; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Porter of Scribner; sisters in-law, Minerva Naber and Eula Marie Hingst of Scribner.
Ludvigsen’s Scribner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
