Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Larry Dekat - February 02, 2011
Larry Dekat, 66, West Point, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the West Point Living Center. A funeral Mass will be Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Earl Dekat will officiate with burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery.Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of West Point; children, Ann and Jeff Bridges of Parkersburg, Iowa, Carrie Dekat of West Point, Jill and Dennis Johnson of Bellevue, Matt and Sarah of New Strawn, Kan., and Mara Dekat of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren; sisters, Sr. Marita Dekat SSS of San Diego, Calif., Roseane and Leonard Dutton of Phoenix, Ariz., and Doretha and Jerry Suther of Lake Panora, Iowa; brothers, Tom Dekat of St. George, Kan., Joe and Dorothy Dekat of Irving, Texas and Rev. Earl Dekat of Horton, Kan.
