Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Ramon Johnson - February 16, 2011
Ramon G. Johnson, 70, of rural Craig, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at his home. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at the United Methodist Church at Craig. Rev. Richard Tiggelaar officiated. Burial was at the Craig Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 127.Survivors include his wife, Ursula; three sons, Randy and Sheila Frye of Omaha, Andy and Deb Johnson of North Bend, Troy and Kari Johnson of Howells; three daughters, Tami Kelly of Ainsworth, Sonja Tal of Germany and Jacqueline Whitt of Alaska; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Johnson of Craig; and sister in-law, Ann Johnson of Oakland.
Pelan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
