Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Kathleen Jean “Kay” Bunn, 78, of West Point, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery.Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; sons, Darrell and Rita Bunn, Randy Bunn all of West Point; daughters, Linda Niles of West Point, Cindy and Bob Petersen of Gretna and Judy Lase of West Point; twin sister, Arlene and Bernie Janning of Carroll, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Viola Bunn, Darlene Wortman and Katie Surman; brother-in-law, Fritz Wortman; 14 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Stokely Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
