Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Norbert Brockmann - March 09, 2011
Norbert Brockmann, 78, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the V.A. Medical Center in Grand Island, after a short battle with cancer. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran-St. Peder’s Church at Nysted. Rev. Robert Carlson, Jr. will officiate. A time to greet the family and sign the guest book will be held on Friday, at 5 until 8 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.Inurnment will be at Loup Fork Cemetery near Boelus with military honors by the Mickelsen Larkowski American Legion Post #241 of Dannebrog.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran-St. Peder’s Church at Nysted or to the Lower Loup Muzzleloaders Association.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; their four children, Sue and Lynn Nielsen of Hastings, Jim and Elizabeth Brockmann of Santa Fe, N.M., Dan and Deb Brockmann of Dannebrorg, and Ron Brockmann of Doniphan; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ivy Berg of Fremont and Mardell Rodgers of Napa, Calif.; a brother, Mel and Marian Brockmann of West Point.
