Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Hyle Hensel - March 23, 2011
Hyle H. Hensel, 79, of West Point, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services were Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Chris Meier officiated =. Burial with military honors was at Mount Hope Cemetery.Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery or American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of West Point; daughter, Holly and Mark Fritsche of McCook; sons, Kurt and Linda Hensel and Clint Hensel all of West Point; sister, Elaine Limbaugh of West Linn, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
Stokely Funeral home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
