Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Eva Lass - April 13, 2011
Eva Lass, 85, of West Point, formerly of Snyder, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Memorial visitation will be 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, with family present 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Private family services with burial will be at Manhattan Cemetery, south of West Point, at a later date.Survivors include daughter, Neva Faltin of Fremont; sons, Lewis, Sr. (Margaret), Mike (Ann), and Davey (Sharon) all of West Point, Rodney (Mavis) of Snyder and Clifford (Doreen) of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Babcock of Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to Manhattan Cemetery.
Stokely Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
