Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Patrick Gatzemeyer - April 13, 2011
Patrick Carl Gatzemeyer, 72, of Bancroft, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Funeral services were Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Bancroft Presbyterian Church in Bancroft. Pastor Charity Potter officiated. Interment was in the Bancroft City Cemetery.Survivors include his wife, Erma; sons and spouses, Kent and Julee of Des Moines, Iowa, Kurt and Leslie of Bancroft; Patrick and Colleen of Lincoln and Brent of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Myra and Kent Bunderson of Craig, Deloise and Delwyn Pearson of Oakland; brothers, Jim and Fran of Omaha, Dennis and Nancy of Bancroft, Gary and Beth Gatzemeyer of Bancroft; and sister-in-law, Janiece Gatzemeyer of Omaha.
Munderloh Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
