Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Monsignor Meister - April 27, 2011
Monsignor Andrew Meister, 90, of Marianna, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at an Omaha Hospital.Funeral Mass will be 10:30 Friday, April 29, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Archbishop of Omaha, his Excellency George Lucas in attendance, Rev. Gerald Gonderinger as Homilist. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Vigil services with Knights of Columbus rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, Visitation on Friday will be 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Stokely Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Kenrick Seminary.
Survivors include sisters Hermines Ulrich of Howells, Doreen Meister of West Point, Veronica and Gene Emanuel of North Bend and Henrietta and Ike Pane of Omaha; brother Melvin and Delores Meister of West Point.
Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
