Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Alberta Meier - May 18, 2011
Funeral services for Alberta Meier, 96, of West Point, were Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with interment in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Alberta died on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the West Point Living Center in West Point.Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Eugene and Evelyn Meier of Plattsmouth, Joyce and Lyle Metzger of Grand Island, and Kenton and Sue Meier of Fremont; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Betty Bohling of Auburn.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church.
