Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Hermine Ludwig - June 08, 2011
Hermine A. Ludwig, 94, of West Point, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at West Point Living Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Wynell “Winnie” (Larry) Reicks of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Bryon (Traci) Amend, Laura (Rick) Runde, and Chris (Emily) Forney; step grandchildren Jesse Reicks and Wyatt Reicks; great-grandchildren Jalen, Broedy, Keira and Arianna Amend, Ava and Josie Runde and Gage Forney; and sister, Elaine Nebuda of West Point.
