Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Johnnie Kay - June 08, 2011
A memorial Mass for Johnnie Kay, 81 of Wisner, was Monday, June 6, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Interment will be at a later date as it was Johnnie’s wish to donate his body to the Nebraska State Anatomical Board.Johnnie died on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Wisner Care Center.
Survivors include daughter, Kellee and Doug Peterson of West Point, and family; Chris Myer and wife Jessica of Bennington, and children Hunter and Gabbi; Jenny Herbolsheimer and Casey of Norfolk, and children Carter and Kylie; daughter Nancy Falter and special friend Mike McCormack of Lincoln, and family; Sierra Falter of Chicago, Ill., Skylar Falter of Beijing, China and Lincoln, Savannah Falter of Lincoln; sister Betty McMaster and husband Larry of Kearney.
Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner was in charge of arrangements.
