Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Dorothea Beck - June 15, 2011
Dorothea Beck, 74 years, of Lyons, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her home in rural Lyons. A funeral service was Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Rev. Gary Fugman officiated. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Lyons Volunteer Fire and Rescue.Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Vanessa Strom and special friend, Gerry Gerch of Oakland, Mike Beck of rural Decatur, Joanne Callahan and husband, Wade, of Fremont; six grandchildren, Chris (Katherine) Strom of Ceresco, Molly Strom (fiancé, Jesse Hansen) of Bancroft, Jessica Peterson, Dustyn Peterson, Austin Callahan, Brennan Callahan all of Fremont; two great-grandsons, Marshall Strom of Ceresco, Daltyn Hansen of Bancroft; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
