Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Leonard Langhorst - August 17, 2011
Leonard F. Langhorst, 77, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 suddenly from natural causes. A rosary will be held Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. with mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln. A light luncheon will follow.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (Kovar) Langhorst; sons Edward Langhorst of Lincoln, Russ Langhorst of San Antonio, TX, Steve Langhorst of Clarkson and Frank Langhorst of San Antonio, TX; daughters Catherine Langhorst of Minneapolis, MN, Rose Schumacher of Layton, UT, Dianne Maggio of Dallas, TX, Gloria Pospisil of Morse Bluff, Bernadette Palaez of Castle Rock, CO, Iva Crane of Weatherford, TX, Carol James of Woodbridge, VA and Bonnie Winslow of Hudson, NH; siblings Justina Miller of Dodge, Irene Guenther of West Point, Mary Ann Lennemann of Snyder and Bill Langhorst of Dodge; 22 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.
