Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Duaine Jacobsen - August 17, 2011
Duaine Jacobsen, 73, Wayne, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. A Christian service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wakefield, on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011. Interment was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wakefield.Hasemann Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Duaine is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Lori (Patrick) Swick of Willow Creek, Mont., and Lisa Jacobsen of Omaha; eight brothers, Dick (Irene) Jacobsen of Lakewood, Colo., Morris Jacobsen and Jim Jacobsen both of Laurel, Ray Jacobsen of Winside, Leonard Jacobsen of Dakota City, Don (Oma) Jacobsen of Hartington, Mike (Cathie) Jacobsen of Sioux City, Iowa, and Harvey Jacobsen of Yuma, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Diann Young of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Al Wischhof of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews.
