Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Prudence Nissen - August 24, 2011
Prudence Dorothy Nissen, age 70, of Fremont, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Fremont Area Medical Center. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Pastor Charlie Axness officiated. Interment was at the Westside Cemetery in rural Oakland.Survivors include a son, Tim (and wife Dennette) Nissen of Oakland; three daughters, Connie (Jim) Schartz of Omaha, Tammy (Chad) Sukstorf of Cedar Bluffs, and Christie (Alex) Gelsomino of Los Angeles; one sister, AnnaBelle (Dan) Olson, and one brother, Emory (Verlee) all of Oakland; two brothers-in-law, Loy (Shirley) and Marlin (LaVonne), all of Oakland; four sisters-in-law, Leona (Harold) Hultquist and Ila (Duane) Laaker, all of Fremont; Inez Diers of West Point, and June (James) Wood of Lincoln; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Matthew, Mitchell, Maverick, Kalley, James, and Olivia.
