West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Mamie Glissman - August 31, 2011
Mamie A. Glissman, 80, of Pender, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Pender Community Hospital. A funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Rev. Glenn Schacht officiated. Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender was in charge of arrangements.
Mamie is survived by three children, sons, Ron of Omaha, Doug and his wife Pam also of Omaha; and daughter, Cindy Mattes and her husband Ron of Hooper; five grandchildren, Jason, Chaley and her fiance Rich and Jeremy Glissman, and Michael and Jacob Mattes. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Thomsen and his wife Milly of Wakefield; sisters-in-law, Mick Thomsen of Wakefield, Kate Thomsen of Omaha, Phyllis Thomsen of Pender, Hazel Dye of Illinois, Jean Glissman of Michigan and Viva Hartz of Washington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mamie was a thoughtful and caring person who will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
