Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Addis (Tad) Thompson Ward died Aug. 4, 2011, in Scottsdale, Ariz. after a short illness. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Holy Trinity Church, 6001 A. Street, Lincoln. Brunch to follow.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 6001 A. Street Lincoln NE 68510; St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, PO Box 691 Borrego Springs, CA 92004; or Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools Foundation, 708 Main Street, Bancroft, NE 68004.
Survivors include children and grandchildren, Nancy Ward of Oklahoma City, Marcus Ward and Kiley Maxwell-Ward of Omaha, Thompson, Karen, Zachary, Amy and Emily Ward of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan Ward, Peter, Melanie and Joseph Swiecicki of Warsaw, Poland, and Matthew Ward, Susan Prince, Christopher, Elissa and Julie Ward of Cincinnati, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nancy and George Gilmore of Omaha, brother-in-law Ken McVicar of Winchester, Mass., and many nieces and nephews.
