Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Eileen B. (Feldhaus) Zitka, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. Mass of Christian burial was Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Omaha. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha.Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church or to the Poor Clare Sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Zitka; brothers: Leroy Feldhaus (Donna) of West Point, James Feldhaus (Betty) of Fremont; sister-in-law, Darlene Schorch (Dr. Thomas) of Chicago, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, West Center Chapel, Omaha.
