Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Joseph Hagedorn - September 21, 2011

Joseph Anton Hagedorn, 76, of Scribner, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Scribner. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Damien Wee as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgley. Wake services with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point and continue from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at St. Lawrence in Scribner.
Memorials may be made to Odysey Hospice or Good Samaritan. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joe is survived by wife, Grace; daughter Karen (Tom) Kreikemeier of Snyder; sons Donald of West Point, Allen of Lincoln, Dennis of Scribner, Steve (Angie) of Cambridge, Darren of Scribner; stepsons Gregory Port of Arvada, Colo., Bradley Port of Arvada, Colo., Douglas Port of Eau Claire, Wis., Michael (Lisa) Port of Golden, Colo.; stepdaughter Michelle (Scott) Steffen of Guernsey, Iowa; grandchildren Josh, Emily and April Kreikemeier, Spencer and Cameron Hagedorn; step grandchildren Jakob, Atticus, Kalvon and Ruddy Steffen, Trevor, Duncan and Brianna Port; and brother Edmund (Joan) Hagedorn of West Point.
