Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Maxine Kardell - October 05, 2011
Funeral services for Maxine Kardell, 77, of Wisner and formerly of Laurel, were Tuesday, Oct. 4 at United Presbyterian Church in Laurel with Rev. Rachelle McCalla officiating. Interment was in the Laurel Cemetery.She died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Donald; one daughter, Janeen Dickes (special friend, Kirt Cunningham) of Laurel; one son, Gordon (Cindy) Kardell of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Eric) Knickrehm, Tyler Dickes and Jennifer Kardell; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society.
