Beemer’s Volunteer Fire Department made use of a perfect day Sunday for a practice burn. Firemen set an hold house on fire at the farm place of the late Marcella Belling, located on County Road 15, about 3.5 miles from Beemer. Basic fire practice, including entering a burning house, was conducted during the controlled burn.

Seventy-seven years ago Eddie Doescher took a chance and sold the only vehicle he owned and bought a truck. It marked the beginning of Doescher Transfer Company, located in Beemer.
Doescher’s family acknowledges that his initial investment proved to be a good one.

Lance Parsons searched for several years to find where his father was buried. He had lost contact with him through the years and knew he had died.
At about the same time as he was searching, Lance was also doing work on a directory for Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point.

It wasn’t by chance, but rather hard work and dedication that Bluejay senior Emily Petz evolved into a star sprinter.
It was also her love for the sport that allowed Petz to place a giant exclamation mark on her Central Catholic track career with four medals in four events at the 2013 state track and field meet held this past weekend at Omaha Burke.

Kermit Schweers - October 12, 2011
Funeral services for Kermit Schweers, 84, of Wisner, were Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment with Military Honors was in the Beemer Cemetery.Kermit died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011. at his home.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Velma Schweers of Wisner; sons David and wife Connie Schweers of Beemer, Roger Schweers of Bancroft, Mark and wife Martha Schweers of Wisner and Timothy Schweers of Wisner; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Joshua Schweers of Wisner; James and wife Sarah Schweers of Lincoln and children Tayler, Jayden and Madison; Rebecca and husband Matt Siebrandt of Carrol and children Braxton, Brooklyn and Brenna; Deborah and husband Kerry Kopecky of O’Neill and children Dalton and Dallas; Ruth and husband Andrew Woehler of Columbus; Andrew Schweers and fiancée Jade Donner of Wisner; Samuel Schweers of Wisner; Daniel Schweers of Wisner; Sarah Schweers of Beemer; Jamie and husband Michael Stout of Bancroft; Megan and husband Tyler Jensen of Lincoln; Mitchell Schweers of Wisner; and Mariha Schweers of Wisner; sister Jolene and husband Dick Motzkus of Omaha; brother Russ and wife Fran Schweers of Wisner; and sisters-in-law Liz Schweers of Port St. Joe, FL and Luetta Fullner of Beemer.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Lutheran Hour Ministries and LCMS World Relief and Human Care.
