Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Dallas Waite - October 12, 2011

Services for Dallas LeRoy Waite, 80, of Gothenburg, were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with interment in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. He died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, in Gothenburg.
Dallas is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; two daughters Cheryl (Buck) Haller of Corona, NM and Sandra Lea Smith of Gothenburg; grandson Staff Sergeant Nathan (Andi) Smith of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; two great-grandsons Riley David Smith of Gothenburg, and Nathan Dallas Smith of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; two sisters Mildred Hamilton of O’Neill and Donna Messerly of Norfolk; along with extended friends and family, and his faithful dog Buddy.
