Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Scott Hicks - November 02, 2011

Scott P. Hicks, 31, “Scottie too Hottie” of Muskogee, Okla., was called to his heavenly home, Oct. 27, 2011 from his home in Muskogee, to be with the Lord and his father, Ronnie J. Hicks.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Helen and Levi Webb of West Point; his children Taylor Hicks of Monroe, Mich., and Lanedan of Deer River Minn.; sisters Stacy Finn of Lincoln, NE, Christina (John) Barrera and Teasha (Billy) Hoffman all of Toledo, Ohio; nieces Ronnie and Haley, nephews Scottie (his namesake), Johnie and Brody, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Monroe, Mich., at the Full Gospel Church. Scott will be buried with his father at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Scott’s family at P.O. Box 55, West Point, NE 68788.
Stokely Funeral Home of West Point, NE is in charge of arrangements.
