Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Funeral services for Kenneth G. Ebel age 52 of Wisner, were Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment was in the Wisner Cemetery. Ken passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle accident south of Wisner, NE.Survivors include his wife, Traci Ebel of Wisner; daughter, Abbi Ebel of Wisner; father, Wayne Ebel of Wisner; mother-in-law, Greta Roth of Wisner; grandmother-in-law, Dorothy Hansen of Wisner; sisters, Diane Ebel of Wisner, Marian and Allen Keagle of Wakefield; brother, David and LuAnn Ebel of Wisner; sisters-in-law, Amy and Jim Skovsende of Omaha, Kayla and Todd Consbruck of West Point; and brother-in-law, Tyler and Stacey Roth of Wisner. Ken is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-niece and great-nephews. Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
