Beemer’s Volunteer Fire Department made use of a perfect day Sunday for a practice burn. Firemen set an hold house on fire at the farm place of the late Marcella Belling, located on County Road 15, about 3.5 miles from Beemer. Basic fire practice, including entering a burning house, was conducted during the controlled burn.

Seventy-seven years ago Eddie Doescher took a chance and sold the only vehicle he owned and bought a truck. It marked the beginning of Doescher Transfer Company, located in Beemer.

Lance Parsons searched for several years to find where his father was buried. He had lost contact with him through the years and knew he had died.
At about the same time as he was searching, Lance was also doing work on a directory for Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point.

It wasn’t by chance, but rather hard work and dedication that Bluejay senior Emily Petz evolved into a star sprinter.
It was also her love for the sport that allowed Petz to place a giant exclamation mark on her Central Catholic track career with four medals in four events at the 2013 state track and field meet held this past weekend at Omaha Burke.

Merna Glaubius - November 23, 2011
Services for Merna M. Glaubius, 89, of Beemer, will be on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church with interment in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. till service time at the church.Merna passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer.
Survivors include son Kenneth and wife Diane Glaubius of Beemer; daughter Debra Glaubius of Beemer; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Lori and husband Steve Repenning and children Kelsey and Abby, Kevin and wife Julie Glaubius and children Garret, Carissa and Hayden and Kara and husband Brach Johnson and children Dylan and Jaden; brother Melvin and wife Helen Long of Beemer. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
