Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Norma Kuhl - November 23, 2011
Norma Jean Kuhl, 80, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Golden Living Center – Park Place in Grand Island. Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial was in the Grand Island City Cemetery.Survivors include her sons, David Kuhl of Grand Island and Ronald Kuhl of Norfolk; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Doug Evaretts of Grand Island and Barbara Kuhl of Beemer; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Stuekrath of Madison; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna Hughes of Grand Island and Arlene and Harold Zessin of Grand Island; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred Kuhl; brother, Devern Stuekrath; sisters, Bonnie Matthews and Joanne Collings; and son-in-law, Randy Farewell.
