Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Ivy Taylor - December 07, 2011
Funeral services for Ivy (Mrs. Harvey) Taylor, 63, of Beemer, were Dec. 8, 2011, at Zion United Church of Christ in Talmage. Interment was in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery at Cook.Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer is in charge of arrangements.
Ivy passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.
Ivy is survived by husband, Harvey Taylor of Beemer; children, David and wife Michelle Gaines of Lincoln, Brian and wife April Gaines of Lincoln, Sherry Baker and David Baker of Nebraska City and Kevin and wife Casey Gaines of Garnett, KS; eight grandchildren; brother, LeRoy and wife Kay Peterson of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Diana Peterson of Lincoln; and brother-in-law, Laverne Speckman of Elk Creek.
