Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Tyler Bennett - December 14, 2011
Funeral services for Tyler Bennett age 18 of Beemer, were Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger. Interment will be in the Beemer Cemetery.Tyler passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, near Fairmont, NE as a result of an automobile accident.
Survivors include his parents, Tina and Kevin Borgelt of Beemer; sisters, Shaila Bennett of Beemer and Alyssa Borgelt of Norfolk and daughter Kadence; brother, Garrett Borgelt of Beemer; grandparents, Sandy Bennett and Duane Lutt of Wayne, Gaylen and Arlene Bennett of Wayne, Lynn and Marlene Borgelt of Wisner; aunts and uncles Teresa Bennett and Nick Strawn of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kurt and Aimee Borgelt of Ashland, Kan., Kyle and Kim Borgelt of Taylor, Kristi and Mike Plagman of Anita, Iowa; and his girlfriend, Railen Ripp of Kearney. Numerous cousins and a host of friends also survive Tyler.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
