Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Shawn McFarlane - December 21, 2011
Shawn M. McFarlane, 36, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Bancroft and Emerson, died at his home in Austin following a brief illness. Funeral services for Shawn will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft. Father Paul Ortmeier will officiate. Burial will follow lunch at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery in West Point.He is survived by his parents, Mike and Marlene McFarlane of Emerson; a sister and her husband, Staci and Terry Kiser of Lincoln; a special friend and her daughter, Jennifer and Cadyn Lersch of Austin, Texas; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Munderloh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
