Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Bev Edwards died Dec. 3, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. An open house celebrating Bev’s life will be held in Laramie, Wyo. in January 2012.Survivors include her daughters, Allison Edwards of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Laurie and son Christopher of Laramie; also granddaughters, Myra Michelle Edwards, Karen and Scott Houghton of Killeen, Texas; grandson, Stephen Janack of Laramie; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Houghton; sister, Bonnie Joy McPherson and partner Mari Augustin of Fort Collins, Colo.; nieces, Dawn Hoesing Bellis of Worland, Wyo. and Jane Hoesing William of Colorado Springs and nephew, David Hoesing of Castle Pines, Colo.
