Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

John Deppe - June 02, 2010
John Deppe, 58, Alexandria, S.D., died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Northridge Baptist Church, Mitchell, S.D. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery at Alexandria, S.D.Arrangements were under the direction of the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; 10 children, Nathan and Lisa Hardison of Sioux Falls, Aaron Hardison of Sioux Falls, Jonathan and Amy Deppe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brandon Deppe of Mitchell, Brittany and Dustin Schley of Stratford, Kristian Deppe and fiancé Michael Bourne of Rushville, Cameron Deppe, Sydney Deppe, Morgan Deppe, and Adrian Deppe all of Alexandria; six grandchildren; a grandchild due in July; five sisters, Elvera Scheppers of Platteville, Wis., Margaret and Tom Dermody of Indianapolis, Ind., Mildred and Ed Jankowski of Omaha, Dorothy and Don Lawse of Mason City, Iowa and Mary Deppe of Oak Creek, Colo.; one brother, Walter and Judy Deppe of Albermarle, N.C.; and brother-in-law, Ken Mazur of Grable, Wyo.
