Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Donna Jensen - January 18, 2012

Donna Jean Jensen, 85 years, of Lyons, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at her home in Lyons. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery.
A funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Rev. Robert Burdett officiated.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Jerelyn Gill of Omaha, Marsha Yeagley of Kearney, Steven and wife, Lori (Olsen) Jensen of Lyons; ten grandchildren, Jason Gill and wife, Tammy, Andrew Gill and partner, Troy Crawford, Jennifer Claypool and partner, Mike Lyman all of Omaha, Jacob Yeagley of San Francisco, Calif., Spencer Yeagley of New York City, NY, Alexandra Yeagley of Avon, Colo., Tracy (Jensen) Rumery and husband, Jerry of Seward, Tammy (Jensen) Hallam and husband, Kevin of Omaha, Kevin Jensen and wife, Kassie (Lewis) of Lyons, Garrett Jensen of Lincoln; seven great grandchildren, Phoebe Claypool, Max Lyman, Grace Maasdam Jensen, Gavin Brownell and Harper Hallam all of Omaha, Jackson and Hunter Jensen of Lyons; brother, Richard McDowell and wife, Shirley of Boulder, Colo.; sister, Madge (McDowell) Church of El Centro, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pelan Funeral Services Lyons was in charge of arrangements.
