Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.
10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.
Arlington shuts down Seniors West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Candace Horst - January 25, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial for Candace Horst, 91, of Wisner, will be on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner, with interment on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg, IL. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Public Vigil Service at 7 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. till service time at the church.
Candace passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer.
Survivors include her sons, Terry (Janet) Scherer of West Point and Douglas (Debbie) Scherer of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Judy (John) Borgelt and family, Cheryl Borgelt and family, Lynn (Steve) Sill and family all of Wisner; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Bowman of Alturas, CA, Cecile Bowman of Tacoma, WA, and Audrey (Bob) Nelson of Galesburg, IL; cousin, Bill Murphy of Wisner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
