Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Raymond Lux - February 08, 2012

Raymond Lux 86, of West Point, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at West Point Living Center. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Gerald Gonderinger and Rev. Tom Lux will be concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday with public wake and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the 35th Infantry Division Assoc.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of West Point; daughters, Elizabeth (Steve) Walker of Grand Island, and Margaret (Rich) Siel of Franklin; sons, Joseph (LoAnn) of Rapid City, S.D., Robert (Mary Anne) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Dennis (Colleen) of Omaha, Dr. David (Mary) of Norfolk, and Patrick (Jayce) of Kearney; sisters, Dorothy Alvine of Boulder, Colo., Mary Kopocis and Sr. Terese Lux O.S.M, both of Omaha; brothers, Jim (Marie) of West Point, Tom (Adrienne) of State Road, N.C.; grandchildren, Anthony, Tim and Nick Lux, Mercedes Lingen, Andy, Claire, and Charlie Lux, Seth, Bryce, and Simon Walker, Zach, Luke, and Jake Siel, Paul, Peter, Therese, and Raymond Lux, Amanda, Joshua, and Christopher Lux; great-grandchildren, Aurora Lingen and Theodore Lux.
Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
