Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Walter Burhoop - February 08, 2012
Walter Dale Burhoop, 75, of Pender, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the Pender Community Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. Rev. Philip Hale officiated. Interment was in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft.Munderloh~Smith Funeral Home in Pender was in charge of arrangements.
Dale is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Pender; son, Jerry Burhoop of Scott City, Kan.; daughter, Sandy (Jake) Tremayne of Walthill; son, Steve (Kyra) Burhoop of Leoti, Kan.; and son, Troy (Cindy) Burhoop of Salina, Kan.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Imogene (Arvid) Samuelson of Wakefield; brother, David (Judy) Burhoop of Bancroft; aunts, Delores Tonjes of West Point and Ruth Korth of Wayne; sisters-in-law, Jackie Larsen of South Sioux City and Yvonne Sporhase of Omaha; brother-in-law, Bill Bennett of Tarzana, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
