Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Funeral services for Todd E. Albers, 59, of Norfolk, were Thursday, Feb. 16 at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment was in the Wisner Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5767. Todd passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.Survivors include wife, Joyce Albers of Norfolk; step-children, Mitch and wife Wendy Hausmann of Norfolk, Michele and husband Pat Schaecher of Norfolk, and Mark and Shawna Hausmann of Norfolk; four step-grandchildren; brother, Collins and wife Renee Albers of Grand Island; and sister, Jane and husband Keith Thomsen of Pender.
