Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Raymond Ortmeier - June 09, 2010
Raymond Ortmeier, 76, of Dodge, died Tuesday June 1, 2010, at Merrick Manor in Fremont. A funeral Mass was Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Rev. Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial was in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.Stokely Funeral Home in Dodge was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Dodge; daughters, Donna and Dean Hagedorn of Dodge, Linda and Tom Kaup of Fremont, Lois and Tom Bracht of West Point, Janis and Kenny Dirkschneider of Scribner, Susie and Bob Kaup of West Point, and Sharon and Ron Schroeder of Leigh; sons, Andy and Kathy of Dodge, Mike and Jane of North Bend, Tom and Jolene and Larry, both of Dodge; 20 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Patricia and Joe Svoboda of Dodge, brothers, Roman and Alvina Ortmeier and Gilbert and Lorraine Ortmeier both of Dodge; and sister in law Lou Ann Ortmeier of Dodge.
