Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Arland Witte - February 22, 2012

Arland C. Witte, 91, of Scribner, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. The funeral was Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Scribner. Pastor Larry Jirsak officiated. Burial was in the Scribner Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, George (Carrie) Witte of North Platte, Clinton (Judy) Witte of Kearney and Donald (Kelly) Witte of Scribner; two daughters, Mary (Doug) Temme of Wayne, Ruth (Sid) Ready of Scribner; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Patton of Elkhorn; 22 grandchildren – Lori (Jey) Henk of Avon, Colo., Amy (Todd) Lanham of Lincoln, Eric (Olivia) Witte of Pueblo, Colo., Lucas (Samantha) Witte of North Platte, Kevin (Jackie) Witte of Kearney, Tana (Chris) VanArsdale of Lincoln, Dustin Witte (Partner Daniel Kubert) of Lincoln, Carl (Dawn) Witte of Waverly, Mark (Hilary) Witte Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Bryan Witte of Japan, Jennifer (Mike) Hansen of Pender, Sarah (Jason) Bomark of North Platte, Laura Witte of Omaha, Kristin Witte of Lincoln, Tina Ord of Fremont, Ann (Conner) Rocole of Brookings, S.D., John Temme of Wayne, Lisa Temme of Lincoln, Steven Ready (fiancée Kayci Allen) of Omaha, Carol Ready of Lincoln, Glen Ready of Scribner and Anna Ready of Scribner; 13 great-grandchildren – Molly, Allyson and Ben Lanham of Lincoln; Cecelia and Malcom Witte of Waverly; Adanya VanArsdale of Lincoln; Blake Witte of Kearney; Jack, Collin, and Grant Witte of North Platte; Honor Witte of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Logan Hansen of Pender and Addison Rocole of Brookings, S.D.; brother-in-law, Boyd (Rena) Kellner of Fremont and special friend, Joan Killingsworth of Scribner.
Ludvigsen’s Scribner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
